Hacking Nokia E71 firmware version 300.21.012
This is assuming your E71 with 200-series firmware is already hacked with HelloOX and Open4All patch by ROMPatcher, and you have full access to c:\sys and others.
Now, here’s the thing to do before upgrading to the latest 300-series firmware using X-Plore (or any other file manager of your choice):
- Create y:\sys\bin directories
- Copy installserver.exe into y:\sys\bin
- Change attributes of y:\sys\bin\installserver.exe to Hidden, Readonly, System
- Assign the same attributes to y:\sys\bin and y:\sys directories
Upgrade the firmware. Once that’s done, install HelloOX (assuming it was already signed for your phone with OPDA certificate!) and execute it. It will do its job, making your E71 hacked and ready for Field Test Display aka NetMonitor again. :)

Hi evad.zone,
I think you are the first guy to hack the Nokia E71 3.0xxx firmware.
I bought the Nokia E71 on the first day of the launch itself it was running on firmware 1.0xxx I was able to hack it (FCA Hack) and install all the applications.
Untill yesterday as I would be travelling abroad I felt the need of updating my firmware many of my friends suggested the same. No I have installed the firmware 3.0xxx but as u have mentioned “assuming your E71 with 200-series firmware is already hacked with HelloOX and Open4All patch by ROMPatcher, and you have full access to c:\sys and others.” I am afraid that I dont think so that the hack I had previously done is still existing as it completely wiped out my phone and its like a brand new phone.
No I am trying to hack it I have tried FCA failed as hellocarbide doesnot install, now I’m trying my luck with secman hopefully it works out.
But if u can give me some detailed steps about hacking a phone with no previous hacks installed and with 3.0xxx firmware it would be of great help.
Awaiting a reply from the genius…

I am definitely not the first guy that did this, see the link to symbian-freak forums below the post. This is just a copy of solution found there. I don’t know how to hack 300.x firmware without prior 200.x hacking, unfortunately. I guess downgrading to 200.x, hacking, then upgrading to 300.x and hacking again should work. Good luck.

Hi Dawid.
Thanks for your prompt reply. Can you help me out in downgrading to 200.x
I am not sure how to go about it.
Regards,
Akash Shetty.

I have never done that personally, so hard to help. Google around or browse symbian forums, you will surely find the way to do it.

I’m trying to install the HelloOX on my Nokia e71 after upgrading it yday and its not installing. Kept getting stuck on Applying patches. I have tried everything but its still stuck there. And as far as downgrading is concerned i have gone through it before and have asked from Nokia discussion forum as well, they said you cannot downgrade your phone…
So What can be done now with hacking???
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP…

Obviously, Nokia’s discussion forums will never tell you can downgrade the firmware, because *officially* it is not possible. Google around Symbian forums, there is a way to do it. AFAIR, it’s a matter of finding Nokia Care Suite (or sth along these lines), which is a software used in official Nokia Care points, and has more features than regular Nokia Software Updater available to the public.

I have tried using nokia care suite but that also doesnot give an option to downgrade.

The Nokia E71 is accused not having 3.5mm audio jack, but I think standard 2.5mm audio jack is ok cause it is business dediacetd. Excellent mailing and texting is what it need. So far as I am concered the phones with QWERTY keypad are like smiling man who has many many teeth. The Nokia E71 looks better-it has many, but smaller teeth. But for people with small fingers it would be hard to type.

This website is not helpful for hacking e71 fw300.21.012.
There are alot of way for hacking this fw, but the simple way is the user cannot install mapdrive, HelloOx and other software for hacking.
So how we can instal such software without previsously hacked? Who can provide an idea?

HelloOx is now supporting the latest E71 firmware version 4. After you installed HelloOx it will also install RomPatcher+ and enable Open4All feature which allows you to install FTD (NetMonitor).
