evad.zone

For some odd reason I have suddenly decided to give up my own WordPress installation in favour of the cloudy Blogger. It’s probably a call of sentiment, as some of my the most hard-core fans might remember that the very first evad.zone instance about a decade ago was grown in blogger.com itself (back in times when blogs were totally new and were mostly used by people, including myself, to tell stories of their broken hearts or what time did they wake up in the morning and you know, something like twitter nowadays is).

However, I also felt that with my (in)frequency of postings and general maintenance laziness it’s not entirely wise to keep own WP instance, so I’d switch over to something less powerful yet easier to use and maintenance-less (so I won’t ever need to worry if clicking on “click here to upgrade WordPress to x.x.x” will blow up everything).

Starting today, I’m going to get my posts gradually migrated across to Blogger (I don’t want to do that in bulk just yet) and 301-redirected accordingly. The idea is to have blogger instance under new URL of blog.dawid.lorenz.co, yet my admin needs to get round to setup DNS properly so for time being evadzone.blogspot.com is the temporary URL of evad.zone.

Here it is, evad.zone is back again, following extreme anticipation among crowds of my devoted fans. As usual, I have specific purpose for it. Basically, I’d like to aggregate all sorts of content I publish over the internet (within many forums, socials networks, personal emails etc.) into one, consistent place, evad.zone that is. Previous edition of evad.zone was focusing on Linux tips & tricks. From now on, I’m planning to extend that scope slightly and throw articles covering many things that I could be interested in. Let’s say my impressions of new electronic toys and gadgets I’ve had in my hands recently, maybe some web development tips, or perhaps some tutorials on modding my Volvo car.

However, the most likely scenario is that I will get bored over time and naturally stop publishing posts in regular manner (read: at all) and after the next year or so I realise myself Hey, I should write a blog! And the history will make a circle yet another time.

Time will tell. So far, fingers crossed and welcome on board of 3562476241433rd edition of evad.zone.

Looks like first WordPress weblog entry, huh? Indeed. :) Implementing own layout into WP engine was a bit tricky, but I guess it works now. Minimal rulez, as usual.

Main intention of evad.zone is collecting some useful tips for everyday Linux needs, which will be useful for me, in the first place. I don’t mind, however, if someone else would make a use of them as well. Hey, that’s a public blog, anyway! ;)
